Het onderzoek aan het RITCS wil voortdurend de kunsten én het onderwijs in de kunsten kritisch ondervragen en reflectie hierover delen met iedereen die er belang bij heeft. Die ‘belanghebbenden’ zijn in de eerste plaats de studenten, maar net zo goed docenten, kunstenaars in uiteenlopende artistieke praktijken, en een breed geïnteresseerd publiek. Daarom is FUTURE NARRATIVES V voortdurend aanwezig op en rond het RITCS, het hele jaar. FUTURE NARRATIVES V is een aanbod aan workshops, screenings, discussies, leesgroepen, performances, … waarin onze onderzoekers de stand van zaken van hun onderzoek naar buiten brengen en delen met deze ‘belanghebbenden’. Soms in kleinere kring, soms met een breed evenement – en in allerlei vormen daartussenin. Niet meer tijdens een al te kortlopend onderzoeksfestival, zoals tijdens de eerste vier edities, maar een jaar lang. Hoe onderbouw je als kunstenaar je verbeelding, je fascinatie, je verontwaardiging ook, en hoe geef je daar dan vorm aan? Die inzichten én de artistieke vertaling ervan willen de onderzoekers van het RITCS dus zichtbaar maken. Onderzoek als stoorzender voor routines die zich dreigen te installeren, voor zekerheden die te weinig twijfel toelaten. Vormen en verhalen voor een onzekere toekomst. FUTURE NARRATIVES, met andere woorden.”

The research at RITCS continuously aims to critically examine the arts and the education in the arts. Research want to share their reflections on this with everyone who has an interest in it. These stakeholders are primarily students, but also teachers, artists in diverse artistic practices, and a broadly interested public. That is why FUTURE NARRATIVES V is constantly present at and around the RITCS, all year round. FUTURE NARRATIVES V is an offering of workshops, screenings, discussions, reading groups, performances, ... in which our researchers publicize the state of their research and share it with these stakeholders. Sometimes in a smaller circle, sometimes with a large event – and in all kinds of forms in between. No longer during an all-too-short-term research festival, such as during the first four editions, but during a whole year. How do you, as an artist, substantiate your imagination, your fascination, your indignation, and how do you shape it? The RITCS researchers want to make these insights and their artistic translation visible. Research as a disruptor for routines that threaten to establish themselves, for certainties that allow too little doubt. Forms and stories for an uncertain future. FUTURE NARRATIVES, in other words.
